
Catarina de Meneses
Catarina de Meneses was born in Lisbon and began dancing at the age of three. She finished her studies at the conservatory in Lisbon and the desire to continue her training took her to the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam, where she was noticed by the artistic director of the Slovenian National Theatre.
She joined the company in 2008 and was promoted to soloist in 2010. Her repertory with the company includes Clara in “ The Nutcracker”, Giselle in “ Giselle”, Kitri in “ D.Quixote”, Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”, “Carmen”, Liza in “La fille male garde”, Olga in “Onegin” , “Paquita” and “La Sylphide”. She also performed in contemporary works from various international choreographers like Cantata (Mauro Bigonzetti), Left Right Left Right (Alexander Ekman) and from the artistic director Edward Clug (Tango, Hommage a Stravinsky, Stabat Mater, Peer Gynt, Hill Harper’s Dream, Kekec, Hora)
In the seasons 15/16 and 16/17, she joined the Croatian National Theater, Zagreb as a first soloist. She danced Odette/Odile in “Swan Lake” ( Vladimir Malakhov), Clara and Sugarplum in “Nutcracker” (Derek Dean), the title role in “Ana Karenina” (Leo Mujić), Tinkerbell in Peter Pan (Giorgio Madia) between others.
